Our Founder

Several years before the opening of MVHC in January of 2008, Chuck Hunter envisioned a health center that would provide access to quality, affordable primary care services to people in the community. Following his retirement from a long and distinguished career in hospital administration, Mr. Hunter was named the CEO of MVHC in 2007. He proudly accepted the position and the overwhelming task of ensuring the health centers in Malta and Zanesville would move from vision to reality.

As he did throughout his career, Mr. Hunter approached the challenge at hand with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and passion. He worked relentlessly to ensure no detail, even those of the smallest degree, was overlooked. Mr. Hunter worked diligently to identify and gain the support of community partners to make this project possible.

Sadly, in December of 2007, just weeks before the opening of MVHC, Mr. Hunter passed away unexpectedly. Today his legacy lives on through the tireless efforts of the many providers and employees who carry out his mission of providing quality, affordable healthcare to everyone in the communities we serve every day.

Since our opening, MVHC has experienced tremendous success and growth, none of which would have been possible without Chuck Hunter. To honor him and all he has done for our community, we established The Chuck Hunter Mission Award which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving the patient population of MVHC.
